I realized late last night that it had been two years since Dustin had died. I've learned that if I can cope with that, I can cope with nearly anything.

He is awesome.

You know how big a terrabyte is, right? It's 1024 gigabytes. When the human genome is interpreted to a computer file, it takes up 75 megabytes. So, a sperm would contain half, or 37.5 megabytes of information. In a milliliter of semen, there are 100 million sperm, and there's 2.25 milliliters per ejaculation. The male orgasm lasts approximately five seconds. So we have 37.5 megabytes per sperm, times 100 million sperm, times 2.25 per ejaculation. Divide that by five seconds. This means my penis transmits 1,687.5 terrabytes of information per second.

New journal

  • May. 23rd, 2008 at 9:17 PM

I've moved on. No longer am I going to post to this journal. It seems that everything in here is negative, not insightful, and rather juvenile. Instead, I'm going to start posting less self-centered, more thoughtful entries in www.tinemccormick17.livejournal.com. I'd appreciate it if anyone interested took a gander.

Thank you.

I feel like everything is falling apart.

I hate using my livejournal as a whiny emo rant page, but I'm scared. My life is about to change like, big time. In three months, i'm going to be living three hours away with people I don't know. It seems like I really have no incentive to stay here, but I don't want to leave either. I'm ready to just pick up and start over.

New job!

  • Jan. 24th, 2008 at 10:21 PM

So I finally got my first "official" job, yay! Today was my first day working at Travel Country Outdoors, a supplier of all things backpacking, hiking, camping, kayaking, etc, etc. Quite seriously a very amazing place.
Also, I never appreciated all of the work that goes into retail work, holy cow. That place is HUGE, and everything is so incredible.
I really think I'm going to enjoy this job, even if I won't get any benefits or anything for a month. It'll be nice to have a regular paycheck. I still have to go get my drug test, which I will pass unless someone slips me something in the next few days, and then the job is mine FOREVER.

Yesterday pretty much was an awesome day.

First and foremost, I received my acceptance letter to The New College of Florida. It was the only school I applied to, so I absolutely had to get it. I was pretty confident that I would, but it was nice to just have that confirmation. So now, I just need to send off $200 and I will be there in the fall. Two and a half hours away. Close enough to be close, but far enough away.

I also made fruit-flavored hot sauce. Mango/cinnamon, and then a strawberry one. They're really sweet, but definitely really spicy. Graham and I invited some friends over for dinner (Stephanie and Cole) and we ate my own version of Indian curry chicken, and flat bread cooked on a grill. After dinner, vanilla icecream with previously-mentioned hot sauces.

The best was after dinner. Graham and I took an astronomy book, some binoculars, and an amazing camera, and here's what we saw.

That's Cassius, a bright star we thought was mars.

That one there is an open cluster known as Pleiades, or The Seven Sisters. Graham thinks it looks like a question mark.

Anyways, absolutlely gorgeous, and now we're buying a telescope.

It's been a while!

Oh lordy has it been AGES since I've posted into my eljay.

Life is fantastic. My friend Erin, who currently is attending Duke, came down and we had a jolly good time. It's nice seeing friends who often dissappear.

Oh! And I got an early Christmas present. They're the most fantastic things in the world. Behold: My Chacos

They're from Travel Country, only the best store in the world. I would LOVE to have the time to work there, and have the employee discount. GREAT stuff, but so pricy.

Thats really all that's new in my life. I hope everyone had a wonderful thanksgiving!!!

I wonder why I update this thing anymore. It's not like anyone reads it. But I guess it will be nice to have something to look back on a few years ahead. Plus, I've had it so long, it'd be like abandoning a baby.
This summer has been officially awesome. For those of you that thought that Tine couldn't get tan, I have officially gotten myself some sun, and am now a light shade of golden brown.
My Oma received four finches on Easter, and they have had babies! There's atleast three of them, but we can't tell because they won't come out of their nest just yet. We'll be getting a couple of these little birds to add to our family. AWWWWWWWW.... how CUTE.
As for the fourth of July, I've gotten out of having to go to my Grandpa's house. He is a cunt. I don't have to see him. I am happy. I wonder how upset I'd be if he died. NO really, i'm curious. I suppose I'd be sad, but more towards the fact that he's been a terrible Grandpa.
What morbid thoughts!
Anyways, good day to you!
